The Columbia Citizen of the Year Award has been a tradition at the Columbia Station Homecoming Festival for many years now through the Columbia Historical Society and will continue for many more years to come. Please stay tuned to this site for the most up-to-date information as it becomes available.
The Acme Grange began the Citizen of the year program in 1977. In 1990, the Columbia Homecoming Committee continued the program. Over the last few years, the program languished. The Columbia Historical Society and Columbia Homecoming Committee reestablished the Columbia Citizen of the Year program in 2007. The idea is to recognize a current resident of Columbia for his or her service to Columbia as part of an organization and/or as an individual finding a need and working toward a solution.
Individuals or organizations are encouraged to nominate a person for this award to be given during the opening ceremony of the Columbia Homecoming Festival.
Nominations must be received by June 9, 2020.
